Syria's FM Holds Talks with Regional Leaders Over Iran-Israel Clash

Overview

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani carried out a series of telephone conversations with regional and international figures — including the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, plus British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani. The discussions centered on the recent missile exchanges between Iran and Israel, the potential spillover effects for neighboring states, and options for coordinated action to contain the situation and protect regional stability.

Al-Shaibani reiterated Damascus’s support for the Arab countries hit by Iranian strikes and denounced what he described as violations of their sovereignty. The calls, according to the Foreign Ministry, focused on intensifying diplomatic efforts and coordination to prevent further deterioration; the ministry also condemned the Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan, which followed a joint U.S.–Israeli strike on Iranian territory, as reported by SANA
