Recommissioned XJ rig in Homs
Syrian engineers have fully rehabilitated the XJ workover rig in the central Homs oilfields, the Ministry of Energy said Thursday. Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir inspected the site; the rig had been taken out of service after technical failures and was restored by technical teams from the Fields Directorate using locally available expertise and resources.
Officials said the restored rig will speed up maintenance operations at oil and gas wells and support government plans to increase production. The project follows the recent return to service of the Uralmash-2 drilling rig, and the ministry said it is increasingly relying on domestic engineering to repair war-damaged energy infrastructure and reduce dependence on imported equipment, as reported by SANA
