New public–private push
Syrian Finance Minister Mohammad Yisr Barnieh said the government is opening “a new chapter of partnership” with the industrial sector, stressing the Finance Ministry’s role is to support production rather than only collect revenue. Speaking at a dialogue with industrialists, Barnieh said proposed tax reform laws were prepared in consultation with industrial and commercial representatives and aim to simplify procedures, reduce tax rates and strengthen fairness and competitiveness.
Modernization and infrastructure focus
Barnieh added the reform program goes beyond legislative changes to include modernization of tax administration, improved relations with taxpayers and accelerated digital transformation to deliver more efficient public services. He said tax revenues will be channeled into infrastructure projects — including roads, hospitals and schools — to enhance public services and support Syria’s economic development as reported by SANA
