Operation foils large cross-border narcotics shipment

Syria’s Drug Enforcement Department said it intercepted a major smuggling attempt from Lebanon during a security operation in the al-Nabk area of the Damascus countryside, arresting one suspect and seizing 850,000 narcotic pills. Authorities reported that investigations are ongoing and legal measures are being taken against those involved.

The announcement follows a separate operation on July 20 in the southeastern countryside of Sweida, where nearly half a ton of hashish was seized after another foiled international smuggling attempt, underlining continued efforts by security forces to disrupt cross-border drug trafficking, as reported by SANA
