Damascus talks boost agricultural, trade and investment cooperation
Syrian and Turkish officials and business representatives met Saturday at the Damascus and Damascus Countryside Agriculture Chamber to discuss strengthening agricultural, trade and investment links. The meeting, led on the Syrian side by chamber head Mohammad Janan and attended by a Turkish parliamentary and business delegation, focused on expanding joint agricultural projects, exchanging technical expertise and products, supporting local farmers, and organizing field visits to potential collaboration sites. Janan said the chamber is working to widen export opportunities for Syrian goods and lower production costs to make domestic products more competitive abroad.
Turkish delegates described significant opportunities in the agricultural and food sectors and signaled interest from Turkish companies to expand into the Syrian market. The two sides also discussed preparing a forthcoming food and agriculture exhibition in Syria and measures to facilitate trade flows and agricultural exports through coordination with relevant authorities in both countries, as they seek to broaden private-sector partnerships and investment, as reported by SANA
