Quneitra raid and detention

Israeli army patrols carried out multiple incursions into the village of Ruwayhina in central Quneitra on the evening of April 12, setting up a checkpoint at the village entrance and detaining a resident who was taken to the nearby al-Adnaniyah base. The operations, involving two Humvees, were accompanied by gunfire from the al-Hamidiyah base, illumination flares over al-Hamidiyah and al-Salam, and reconnaissance aircraft overhead. Local sources also reported Israeli fire toward agricultural land and that a shepherd in Ruwayhina was shot earlier, leading to the death of several sheep.

The incident is part of ongoing Israeli search operations, raids, arrests and the erection of roadblocks across Quneitra, where authorities say several main and secondary roads have been closed or blocked with earth berms to isolate villages and farmland. The UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) has stepped up patrols, opened temporary nighttime observation posts, and engaged with local communities after residents' calls for protection following recent violations — including the April 3 shelling that killed a 17-year-old near Rafid. UNDOF reported seeing rounds fired from an Israel Defense Forces tank across the ceasefire line, has launched an investigation, and urged an immediate halt to actions contrary to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, as reported by Enab Baladi
