Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem al-Budaiwi said during a press briefing that since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli-Iranian conflict on February 28, Iran has directed about 85% of its missiles and drones toward Gulf states, totaling more than 5,000 projectiles over the past month. He provided a country-by-country breakdown, saying the United Arab Emirates was the most heavily hit with over 2,000 strikes, followed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. Al-Budaiwi stressed the GCC’s entitlement to self-defense under international law and rejected any attempts to justify or obscure the assaults.

Regional impact and international appeal

Al-Budaiwi warned that the escalating attacks pose risks beyond the Gulf, threatening global energy flows, maritime corridors and international trade, and urged the world to send a clear, unified message to Tehran to halt destabilizing behavior. His briefing came after a UN Human Rights Council resolution that condemned the strikes on civilian sites and energy infrastructure and demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities as the war enters its fourth week, with the Gulf at the center of rising geopolitical tensions, as reported by SANA
