Baniyas delivery

The gas tanker GAS HELENA arrived at the Syrian Petroleum Company terminal in Baniyas carrying an estimated 2,030 metric tons of gas, and crews have begun unloading into storage tanks after completing technical procedures. Authorities said other tankers are queued to moor and unload as part of efforts to maintain uninterrupted supplies; the Baniyas port has received several shipments in the past month to help alleviate a worsening household gas shortage in regions including Damascus, Aleppo, Daraa and Deir Ezzor.

Government officials and local experts say the shortage stems from a mix of short-term disruptions and deeper structural problems. The Ministry of Energy pointed to weather-related delays that hindered ship mooring and unloading, while analysts cited limited field production, technical failures, weak investment, import and financing restrictions, and war-related damage to infrastructure. The government is pursuing a strategy to boost domestic natural gas output — aiming to reach about 15 million cubic meters per day — to improve supply stability, as reported by Enab Baladi
