Romanian carrier Dan Air said it will expand its summer schedule from June 1 to include Amman, Yerevan and Tbilisi, and will designate Syria’s Aleppo as a permanent destination within its network. The airline noted it is now the only EU carrier serving both Damascus and Aleppo concurrently, a year after re-entering the Syrian market. Dan Air reported carrying more than 272,000 passengers in 2025—up over 30% from 2024—with a 98% on-time performance, and described Bucharest as a growing hub linking Damascus to major European cities.

Dan Air also said it has applied for scheduled carrier approval for four additional destinations—Baghdad, Baku, Beirut and Cairo. Syrian Civil Aviation Authority head Omar Hosari welcomed rising transit movements and said authorities are working to align international assessments with on-the-ground operational improvements after reopening previously closed air corridors; the authority stresses Syria’s geographic position could make its airspace a preferred international corridor. The expansion follows the first direct Dan Air flight from Bucharest to Damascus on June 15, 2025, and a wider reopening of Syrian airspace announced April 8. as reported by Enab Baladi
