Damascus condemns Iranian strikes on Arab states, urges peaceful dialogue
Overview
The Syrian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Iranian strikes that it said targeted several Arab countries — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan — calling them violations of sovereignty and threats to regional security. Damascus expressed full solidarity with the governments affected, rejected any threats to their stability, and reiterated its call to respect territorial integrity while backing efforts aimed at dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful solutions to regional disputes.
Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani held a series of phone calls with Arab counterparts, Turkey’s foreign minister, Britain’s national security adviser and the president of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region to discuss the Iranian-Israeli escalation and its implications for regional stability. The Syrian statement noted the Iranian strikes came after a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iranian territory and said Syria will continue to support measures to ensure security and stability for all in the region, as reported by SANA
