Fire emergency in Hasakah
Emergency teams from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management responded to widespread fires across Hasakah province on Tuesday, including blazes that spread from fires in Iraq and that scorched grasslands, crop residues and wheat and barley fields in the Tell Brak, Tell Hamis and Al‑Yaarubiyah subdistricts. Crews managed to bring several fire fronts under control and dispatched reinforcements from Raqqa and Deir Ezzor; authorities said strong winds, contiguous agricultural lands, abundant dry thorns and grass, and the presence of landmines in some locations have complicated suppression efforts.
Separately, Syrian Civil Defense teams in Aleppo extinguished a wheat-field fire near the village of Miznaz with assistance from local residents and reported only material losses and no casualties. On Thursday Hasakah’s emergency directorate responded to 12 fires across the province, containing them and preventing further spread. Civil Defense called on citizens to avoid burning dry vegetation, discarding cigarette butts or glass near crops, and other risky practices to prevent new blazes, as reported by SANA
