Damascus cycling rally marks World Health Day
Around 500 riders joined a "Ride for Your Health" cycling event organized by Barada Sports Club, under the oversight of the Directorate of Sports and Youth and in coordination with the Ammrha volunteer initiative. The group set off from the club’s headquarters and cycled through several central Damascus thoroughfares, including al-Shahbandar Street, al-Jisr al-Abyad, the al-Talyani area, al-Najmeh Square, Freedom Bridge, al-Baramkeh, Umayyad Square and the Victoria area.
Barada board member Abdul Latif Samaan said the initiative seeks to promote daily physical activity as a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, encourage participation across age groups and showcase Damascus landmarks in a positive way. The ride was held to coincide with World Health Day on April 7, whose theme this year emphasizes supporting science to protect the health of people, animals, plants and the planet, as reported by SANA
